I hope everyone has had a great holiday season and that each of you will have a happy and prosperous New Year!
Coast to Coast AM will replay my “Is Paul Alive?” program January 1st. If you missed the original show in August tune in and listen to many of the audio clues, both forward and backward, that had many of us thinking Paul had checked into Rock and Roll Heaven in 1966. Besides, after your New Year’s Eve party you can always sleep late on New Years Day!
My next book, "Take a Walk on the Darkside: Rock and Roll Myths, Legends, and Curses" will be released in July 2004. My editor tells me Simon and Schuster want the title as a summer release and has added an extra 10,000 copies to the first printing. I have a mockup of the cover and will post it on my website in the near future. My new book will contain ALL the stories you've heard me tell on radio from "Hellhounds" as well as some new material that will makew this volume the complete book that I was hoping for in "Hellhounds." I know that Amazon.Com is pre-selling the book and I intend to give a few away before the book is offically released. The good news is that "Take a Walk on the Darkside" will retail for $14.00--a far cry from the collector prices being asked for "Hellhounds." I have some news concerning how you can win a signed FREE first edition copy of "Hellhounds" at the conclusion of my newsletter.
Many followers of the Paul is Dead rumors state that the “real” Paul (1961-1966) was vastly superior musically to the “fake imposter” Paul of (1967-2004). Now since I believe that the Beatles were up to something with SOME of the rumors, especially the Sgt. Peppers drum skin, I never bought the concept that Paul had actually left the building, however I’m always open to new evidence. What I enjoy most are the many clues that have originated since the original clues began in 1969. For some holiday cheer let’s determine exactly how “untalented” the so-called Paul Imposter from 1967 to 2003 actually was. First, McCartney from 1961-1966 had many great songs” “Yesterday”, “And I Love Her”, “Michelle”, “We Can Work it Out”, “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Here, There and Everywhere.” Excellent songs, however, compare the “fake” Paul’s contributions of “Fool on The Hill”, “Hey Jude”, “Blackbird”, “Helter Skelter” (the best Beatles’ hard rock song in my opinion), “Let It Be”, “The Long and Winding Road” and “Get Back.” Now consider from the solo and Wings era. A sampling of “Maybe I’m Amazed”, “My Love”, “Let Me Roll It” ( I like that one too), “The Venus and Mars” LP and the incredible “Live and Let Die” Pretty “untalented”, huh? J Rock on Paul! I’d like to know your personal picks of McCartney’s greatest hits “before and after” as well. Drop me an email and let me know.
Many of you have written me over the last few years following my first appearance on Coast to Coast AM detailing how difficult it has been finding a copy of “Hellhounds on Their Trail.” Collectors are charging outrageous process for copies on Amazon and I don’t want any of you paying those prices. To start the New Year off right, I have decided to offer one of my first edition copies of “Hellhounds on Their Trail” (signed if you wish) to one of you. To be fair, I need to develop a contest that right now resembles a rock and roll trivia scavenger hunt. Since you are on my newsletter list I’ll give each of you a head start before I post it on my website. Good luck and I hope you win!
Finally, I love hearing from you so drop me a line and better yet tip me off to a great story from rock and roll’s darkside!
Best Wishes,
Gary
